Mercury retrograde.. a time for reflection?

Hi All,

Yes I have found since the weekend and the start of Mercury going into retrograde, that I have been just slowing down and doing a lot of thinking and reviewing where I am going and where I feel I am being guided to go. It never ceases to amaze me how the Universe subtly closes doors and then pops another one open. A door that in the past would not have called to me and maybe, I would not have even been visual enough to see the sparkly light shining around the unopened door.

I have spent a good deal of my life playing it safe and not ever really challenging myself. Just of late I am being called to be a bit more adventurous and actually try things that seem a bit outside my comfort zone. Where I thought I was going has changed and morphed into something so much more rewarding and exciting!

Since developing and creating the Serendipity/Intuitive Workshops teaching has become even more of a blessing and the rewards are just wonderful. Guiding and encouraging Students to discover their own creativity which in some cases was repressed, is just amazing. To watch my Student's paintings and confidence evolve just in one day is fabulous. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be able to pass on what I have learnt over the years.

My Art has always been very important to me and I have always channelled my subjects. But lately I am being called to shift and re adjust. Be more intuitive, trust and just keep developing my creativity. More and more my paintings have become about healing and connecting to universal energy.

After having a stall at the Mornington Peninsula Healers Market last Sunday, I realised that this was definitely something I would like to do more of. It was certainly a beautiful day and a confirmation that my Intuitive paintings hold healing energy and fit well into the health and well being practices.

I love that so many of my pieces, originals and prints, now hang in many Healers rooms and in people's own personal sacred spaces. I also am very happy that some of my students also have their own paintings hanging in their own sacred space or healing room. Art work can be very powerful and certainly can send beautiful positivity out into a room.

So, yes I am taking it easy today. Not pushing myself... I have a Workshop coming up on Saturday which I am really looking forward to. And of course two weeks later we are off to South Australia for two days of workshops.

Life is very busy, but I am grateful to this Mercury Retrograde and the Solar Eclipse tomorrow to allow me to just slow down and take a good look at where I actually am Today. Being Present. Trusting in the Universe.

So don't get frustrated when Mercury is in retrograde, just slow down and take it easy.
The time for action will come again!

Bye For now!! xx

BUSY OCTOBER!

Hi Everyone!

My goodness, how the year is flying by!
So much happening... my life is a blur.
I am very proud to say I ran the
9th Serendipity/Intuitive Workshop
last weekend. I have been just blown away by the
wonderful response to these workshops.

Of course they are not just a painting workshop,
they are more of a holistic balancing, a healing experience.
Reconnecting back to our creative selves and working
through the blocks that have been holding us back
and telling us we aren't good enough.

I think that is why they have been received so well.
I like to think of them as a "Healing" modality.
My students tell me that after doing the workshops
they feel renewed confidence in not just their ability
to be creative but in their everyday lives in general.
Being creative sends out beautiful positive vibes and is
so uplifting. And doesn't the world need plenty of that?

My other piece of news is that I am going to have a stall at the
Mornington Peninsula Healers Market.
Peninsula Community Theatre,
Sunday, 5th October 10am - 4pm
Cnr Wilsons Rd, and Nepean Highway, Mornington.

Mornington is only an hour from the Melbourne CBD.

This is a chance to drop by and check out some of my
"Serendipity", and "Beyond the Veil" original paintings.
They will be for sale along with a select quantity of Art prints.*
Orders can be taken on the day if you miss out.
I will also have some of my other originals at special prices!

"The Chakra Tree Of Life"*
Will be available as a 50cm x 50cm Art Print.
Also as a 50cm x 50cm plus mat, framed.

"The Lotus"*
Will be available as a 50cm x 50cm Art Print.
Also as a 50cm x 50cm plus mat, framed.

"Ganesh"* is available as a framed A4 with mat.
Just fabulous for a healing room or your personal altar

"Buddha Of The Seventh Chakra"*
Will be available as a 50cm long Art Print.
Also as a 50cm long plus mat, framed.

I will also be selling my Animal Voices Oracle Cards
and The Space In Between Meditation CD's.

The market is all about exploring health and wellbeing products
and services to synchronize body, mind and spirit.
Workshops and demonstrations throughout the day.
So hopefully I will see some of you on the day!

The Latest Workshops News

Hi Everyone,

Just catching up with you all again. Letting you know about what is been happening in my World.
When I wrote my last Blog I was getting ready for a private Serendipity/Intuitive Workshop with Maya from Maya's Healing Space. We had a wonderful day. Maya's Husband was good enough to allow us to hold the workshop in his lovely new Shed/Barn. The weather turned out to be just gorgeous( Thank You Universe) and we were lovely and snug inside. The paint flew and at the end of the day we had spectacular results! Thank You to Maya and another amazing group of students!

I think the results speak for themselves.

My other piece of news re Serendipity is I have now scheduled not one workshop for South Australia but two. Due to the enormous response. With a large group coming from the Barossa area I have booked  the Gawler Community Studio Art Room for Sunday 26th October. This workshop is filling very quickly and is just about sold out. The other venue is the Pooraka Farm Community Hall which is closer to the Adelaide CBD, for the Saturday 25th October.

This is the demo I did in Maya's June Workshop. It is called "Fly Free" and is for sale.

I am now getting ready for the next Serendipity/Intuitive Workshop coming up on July 12th.
Not long now! Only a week away! Stay tuned for the beautiful results.

In some personal news Jack my husband and I are going to be welcoming a new puppy to our little menagerie. Yes we already have two little dogs Charlotte( a Yorky X) and Molly ( a tiny Maltese X)
Our cat Zoe who is a proud 14 years of age and of course Archie our Rainbow Lorikeet! Needless to say I am an Animal fanatic! I just Love them!

So back to out little newcomer.... she is a Golden Retriever and today she is 5 weeks old.

This is her at 4 weeks old.

We are off to Denison( near Sale) to see her tomorrow. Very excited and of course we don't pick her up until she is 8 weeks old. I will be posting lots of photos of her when we do. Ha Ha!

So that is my news for now!
Bye for now!!

Serendipity/Intuitive Workshops

Hi Everyone,

Well it has been a while since I wrote in this Blog. I can't believe the year is almost half over.
The Serendipity/Intuitive Workshops have proved to be wonderfully successful! I just love that I have discovered such a unique way to inspire creativity in others. To watch Students bloom and blossom is really amazing. People who had decided that they couldn't paint or be creative have realised that in fact they can. With no rules or expectations. Just having fun with colour and paint! Everyone can be an Artist!

Since the end of last year I have taught 6 different groups the Serendipity Workshop. Not just in my own venue either. I have also been up to Ballarat and this weekend I will be holding a Private Workshop in one of my lovely Host's own home. Looking forward, the July and September Serendipity's are fully booked. I am now taking bookings for October 11th.

Recently I have had loads of interest in an Adelaide Workshop. So we are currently taking expressions of interest for that one. With a late October date in mind. Please message me if you would like to come along. I am also taking names for potential Workshops in NSW and Queensland as well. The lists are growing.

Serendipity/Intuitive Workshop February

In other news I have scheduled the "Beyond The Veil" Workshop for the 23rd August. This Workshop is the next step beyond "Serendipity". Students who have already done the first workshop can come along with a serendipity style painting which they have done at home. I will show them how they can find what images and shapes lie beneath their paintings!

"Chakra Tree Of Life" is an example of how this can be done. You do not have to be able to draw for this workshop either!

So I will sign off now!
Love Susan xx

CELEBRATING 2013!

Hi Everyone!

Wow! What a year ! 2013
The year started off with me hobbling around on what I thought was a sprained ankle.
It turned out it was broken? That was why it took so long to get better!
I still managed to teach the Pelican Workshop in January though.
Soldier on is my motto! On reflection.... this can be stupid!

Looking back I have had a very productive 2013!
Evening classes and my one day workshops throughout the year being very successful!
So much so that I have repeated a couple of themes, such as the Koi Fish and The Lorikeets!

We painted Chooks, Blue Wrens, Emus, Pelicans and Owls and a whole lot more!

I myself was a student at a couple of workshops this year!
In June I attended Tracy Verdugo's Paint Mojo 2 day workshop!
This workshop introduced me to Golden Fluid Acrylics!
I have now fallen in love with these paints!

Then late June I trekked up to Maryborough Queensland to attend a 5 day workshop with Jenni Kelly!
I always have a fabulous time when I go up there and love catching up with Jenni and a couple of other Artists who also go every year. It is always a very productive workshop!

I was quite pleased to see my painting "The Market"was published in the October Australian Artist, in an article about the workshops up in Maryborough.

Then in September "Animal Voices" the Wisdom card deck I did the artwork and Chip Richards did the writing for, was finally released through Blue Angel Publishing. It was very exciting!

If you haven't purchased a set yet, and would like a signed copy you can visit my website
www.susanfarrellart.com.au

Late October I did Flora Bowley's online course! Very inspiring!
She is also an advocate for Golden Fluid Paints!

In November I introduced my new workshop "Serendipity" Intuitive!
My backgrounds have always been abstract and very intuitive.
But I have then painted my detailed Animal or Birds on the backgrounds.
I have discovered how much I love treating the whole painting as intuitive.
Just letting what wants to discovered evolve through the layers. This is also a lovely technique to teach as it has no rules or predetermined outcome. The Student can just play and allow their own creativity to go where it wants to. Everyones painting is individual!

What we discovered in that first "Serendipity" workshop that some of the students wanted to stop at the abstract stage of the layers. Their paintings were gorgeous and vibrant as they were. No need to go on and pull out what lies within....

That is now a subsequent Workshop for those who do want to take it further.
It will be called "Beyond The Veil".

"Serendipity" Workshops are planned for Feb (FULL) and March 2014

In Mid November I began my personal journey into the healing realms of Reiki

I completed my Reiki 1 on the 23rd November.
That is me in the front second in from the right.
I am looking forward to continuing with my Reiki 2 early 2014.

So here we are all the way into December 2013!
Busy time of year... I had so much planned to cram in!
Then silly me! Fell out of our fairly high bed on the 7th Dec.
No, I was not inebriated! Quite sober in fact ... not sure how it happened?
I woke up on the floor feeling very sore!
Stuffed up my poor old back!
So, yes I spent Xmas 2013 hobbling around just like I did Xmas 2012 with my broken ankle.
This time I tried to be sensible and not "soldier" on. Sara, my daughter informed that it was indeed the Universe telling me to "slow down"... so I sort of did?

We had a wonderful Xmas with my kids and loved having them come down and stay over the break.

I hope you and your Families all had a lovely Xmas and New Year celebrations!

Looking forward to keeping in touch with you all throughout 2014!
Bye for now!
Love Susan xx

KOI FISH WORKSHOP

Hi Everyone!

Well yesterday we had the Koi Fish Workshop down in the Clayton Community Centre.
Sponsored by the Clayton/Clarinda Art Society. We used their lovely Art Room which was fully equipped with lots of easels and tables and situated right next door to their Kiosk. Very convenient for those of us who have a soft spot for a lovely cappucino. :)

I had five very enthusiastic and talented Students!
Margaret, our Host is the resident Art teacher. She runs weekly art classes from
The Clayton Community Centre.

Everyone busy painting!

The day just flew by! Lots of chatting and getting to know each other. Delighted to find two
established Artists amongst the group. Learning some new techniques.
Lots of scraping and playing with paint and colour. I always find it amazing to wander around the room and seeing how every student's painting turns out different. Each one
wonderfully unique! All our Koi Fish had such personalties.

Here They Are Completed!

So happy that everyone got theirs finished and some even signed them as well. :)
Thank you to a lovely group of Ladies!

EVERYONE IS CREATIVE

Hi Again,

Just sharing a post that I made on Facebook last week.

What is Intuitive Painting?

Cast your minds back to when you first went to Kindy or Primary School. We were all given paper and paint to create out masterpieces. Our Mums and Dads would pin them on the fridge to show them off.
Everyone in the class was treated equally as far as their creativity was concerned. My eldest son actually went through a phase of painting everything black. I was convinced there was something wrong.. but his wise teacher told me that indeed it was normal and lots of little boys go through the black stage. He was painting intuitively..what he wanted to express. No one was there to tell him it was wrong ( except his silly Mum )

Through our early primary school years we were encouraged to express ourselves with out artworks. But as we got older, and definitely once we hit secondary school, rules started to take over. Paint between the lines, you can't draw, you aren't creative!  Between misguided teachers and our own self doubts and egos we stopped our creative endeavours. More structured schooling began to take over. No more painting, no more creating. There were some of us that did follow the creative path and build careers around it, but the majority of people went in other directions.

Now what I believe is that everyone is creative! We were born that way. Some find other ways than painting to channel their creativity, but some just believe they can't and never give themselves the chance.

Intuitive Painting is a way of going back to that little Child we were in Kindy. With that blank canvas and no expectations. There are no mistakes, there is no control. If you end up hating it, just gesso over the painting and start again. Play, spatter, flick, scrape and spray! Watch the colour drip through each other and create beautiful iridescence.

If you appreciate art and colour, then you can create your own painting. Whether or not you end up hanging it or just using it therapeutically.

You will be doing that little Child inside you a big favour!

I am running an Intuitive/mixed media Workshop in seven weeks. Why not come along and have a play? With no rules or expectations! You do not need to have picked up a paint brush in years.
